On the Docks of Aruba

Aruba has the bluest water I have ever beheld. These photos were taken on the dock of the private island waiting for the boat to come pick us up! The weather was so nice, warm with a light sea breeze. It never rained on us- apparently it doesn’t rain much in Aruba. There were no bugs- something I was concerned about going into our trip- especially because of Zika. But it was great!

As we were waiting for the boat, we would just sit there and look in the water. It was so clear, it was like watching Finding Nemo! You could see everything. We saw little crabs, anemones, clear fish, yellow fish, mini sword fish, bigger fish, and pelicans! It was so cool.

Also, if you haven’t noticed, I really like ruffles, which is why I am so glad that when I walked through H&M the other day, there was a ruffle theme going on. <3 My top is actually an “off the shoulder” top, but I don’t like “off the shoulder” tops, so I wear it like a normal shirt, which is fun because it makes the ruffles even bigger! I especially liked my finds down below.

Aruba Flamingos

Flamingos in Aruba are the coolest thing ever!

I’ve never been so close to one. They were so cool to observe. Their knees bend the opposite way our knees bend and they bark like dogs almost! Haha but they are so beautiful with their pink feathers. We got to feed them, too! Go to Aruba, and you have to stay in the Renaissance because you have free access to the stunning private island with the flamingos. I didn’t inquire, but I read on a blog that if you don’t stay there, then they charge $100 or so per person to get to the island. I really am going to do another blog post on the hotel alone because it was the best.

But yes, Nick and I spent the afternoon laying on beach chairs, wading in the ocean, and following these beauties around to snap pics of them because HELLO! They are flamingos, and they are beautiful!

The only thing missing from my outfit was some straw and pom-poms. I love Kate Spade’s new pom-pom straw bags, but they are $300…so there’s that… but I found so amazingly similar alternatives below all under $50. I think I need them all…

Well, I hope you are ready for the weekend! I know I am. I have my first Texas Rangers game tomorrow, so I am a little nervous, but also excited.

Honeymoon

Our honeymoon was such a dream.

I wanted a surprise (with stipulations aka somewhere tropical) for the honeymoon, so Nick planned it all and surprised me! TBH when he told me we were going to the British Virgin Islands, I had no idea that place existed, but it ended up being a dream. We mainly stayed on Tortola, at the Surf Song Resort on Beef Island. We were in paradise! The water was warm and blue, the sand was white and soft, and the weather was wonderful. We stayed in the Treehouse room, which was our own little place (pictured above) surrounded by trees and windows, so you felt like you were in the middle of the jungle, but you were actually in a comfy room.

Things we did at the British Virgin Islands-

  • Day Sail to go snorkeling.
  • Play with Dolphins.
  • Massages.
  • A day trip Virgin Gorda, where we did a fun hike along the water.
  • Swam in the ocean.
  • Explored Tortola.
  • Took our own little sailboat out.

We also watched a lot of March Madness & Spongebob… so there is that. Haha. But seriously, our honeymoon was so much fun. We had a chef that cooked each of our meals, and I looked forward to that everyday! Mostly, I just had fun not planning or caring about anything else in the world except being with my husband. I loved everything about our honeymoon.

And NOW…. we are planning a little one year anniversary trip this weekend. Any guesses where we are headed?

Stay tuned!

XOXO,

Alyse
