Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo was everything you’d imagine it to be- rich, fancy, and clean. It’s only about 25 minutes from the Italian border, but you can 100% tell you’re in a new country. We drove through and parked our car in the South of France to get there. Monte Carlo is situated on the ocean, so when you’re driving down to it, you’re on the most picturesque switch backs. We got out of the car started wandering the streets. We saw some fancy, high-end stores on our way to the casino. The casino isn’t like Vegas casinos, fortunately IMO. The architecture was actually really beautiful. We don’t gamble, but it was fun to walk around it.

We then made our way back to the yachts. Ummm… those things are bigger than houses. So fun to walk around the docks. We found a little crepe place & ate nutella crepes. We finished our day with some Laduree macarons in the South of France. YUM. Macarons are one of my favorite things, but they’re best in France. 😉

Okay, so Nick picked out my skirt- isn’t it cute and colorful!? I got my skirt for $19.99 HERE. Sometimes in the summer skirts are all I can bear to wear because it’s too hot for anything else. And who doesn’t love a straw hat to top it off?

Happy Monday!

Sunflower Fields in Tuscany 🌻

Driving through Tuscany, Italy was breathtaking. I have never seen so many fields of sunflowers in my life! I knew I had to take a picture.

The only issue was that, once you get on the freeway in Tuscany, there are very few exits. You are basically on the freeway for a long time. As we drove by these flowers, it was like they were all staring at the cars passing by and teasing us with their beauty because we couldn’t even slow down to see them let alone take a picture of them!

We couldn’t even find any ways to get to any of them. Finally, we found an exit and ventured off to these one-lane back roads where we didn’t even know if we were allowed to be. We crossed a bridge and made it to a dirt road that was covered in giant puddles from recent rain.

Finally we saw some beautiful fields in the distance. We carefully drove our rental car through puddle after puddle until we got close enough to pull the car over. As you can tell from the photos above, there were mountains in the distance. The lighting was perfect and the flowers were huge! Honestly, our earth is so diverse and beautiful. What a gift from God! 100% obsessed with it.

Packing tips + Summer Vacation

Happy Summer 2017, officially!

In the last 24 hours, Nick & I have been in 6 different airports, gotten a total of 3 hours of sleep, and just landed in our final destination…. if you don’t know by now, we are in ITALY! 💛 YAY!

Nick served his mission here, so he lived here for  2 years! He truly grew to love the Italian people, just as I am going to grow this week by all the food I eat…. anyways, I truly am so excited to be here with him. He still speaks and understands Italian. I can’t wait to see some of the places he served and meet some of the people he loves.

Notice this is a packing post, and there are no pics of the trip itself so far. We have both avoided every photo op because we look very ratchet from traveling. In fact, I’m trying hard not to fall asleep as I write this and it’s only 2 PM here. 😳 Really hoping we don’t pull a Chris and Lorelai, when they went to Paris and accidentally slept through the whole thing!

Anyways- here are a couple packing tips I’ve used over the past few years of consistently traveling.

  • Don’t check a bag. (If you can help it.) Maybe I’m scarred from what I’ve seen, but if your bag gets lost, it’s a lot of unneeded stress. In fact, usually Nick and I will share one carry on.
  • Bring a few things you wouldn’t mind leaving behind. You can bring mostly adorable, new outfits, but if you have some things you don’t mind leaving, if you collect things along the way- you’ll have some room.
  • Leave a little empty space. For souvenirs of course!
  • Lay your outfits out a few days in advance. I am usually the 100% procrastinator, but this time I laid it out early and actually brought the outfits I wanted! 😂
  • Keep a note in your phone throughout the week of things you still need to pack or buy. That way, you won’t leave anything behind.

YAY our hotel room is ready. I’m just gonna close my eyes for a second here….

XOXO,

Alyse
