Thanksgiving Pie

Okay, I have always loved food, but who doesn’t. But over the past few years, I have loved the art portion of food. It’s so interesting to see how good can look gorgeous. I specifically love the cool pie crust designs people come up with. Some of them look too good to eat!

This year, I made a berry pie (mostly raspberries because those are the best) with a floating leave crust. This is the crust recipe I used. Super easy! For the filling, I rises 5 cups of berries, 3/4 cup sugar, 1/4 cup cornstarch, and a hint of cinnamon. Then I baked it at 375 F for 45 mins. Most the time I covered the pie with tin foil so it didn’t burn, but I took it off for the last 10-15 minutes so the crust got golden brown.
For the design, my little sister helped me & luckily my grandma had tons of cookie cutters to work with. We did floating leaves for fall with little stars. It reminded me of a still lake at night with fall leaves and the reflecting stars. Also, we brushed some melted butter on the tips of the leaves and the edge of the pie crust and sprinkled raw sugar on it for some added crunch!

Of course we served it hot with vanilla ice cream. ? Yumm! Pie loved it berry much.

Xoxo,

Alyse
