Life has its ups and downs and alllll arounds. Life also has its dull or monotonous moments- like today for me. We can coast through life or we can try to make those little moments a party!
When you find yourself in a slump, here are a few things to remember. (I’m mostly writing this advice out for myself because I need it today…)
The number one tip for loving life is remembering your blessings. Gratitude can help you keep a bigger perspective. I feel like we go around zoomed in to our day to day routine. Gratitude allows us to zoom out to enjoy the bigger picture. Also, getting lost in helping other people makes me so happy.
A few things we have been doing lately- First, cleaning out my closet. Nick and I have been trying to declutter and we have about 5 garbage bags of excess stuff that we will donate to Goodwill. It feels great to get that out of our house and to let someone else use it if they want it. Second, making lists of tasks that are nagging me or questions that I need to figure out. Once I write things down, they become much more clear & I don’t have to worry about remembering everything. Third, get out of the house. I get a lot done at home, but a little sunlight and just switching up your day for a quick errand can really help get you out of a mood.
These simple things have made me happier in the past. I think I’ll keep trying them out because life really is a party! ?
We just finished the most epic Boyce Fam Jam! (The newest name for our family reunion.) It was a wonderful week of cousins, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and laughing. We all went up to grandma’s house but we stayed in hotels because there are so many of us! I actually absolutely loved the hotel aspect. We would stay up late in the lobby and/or go swimming or just hang out.
The first night, we found out that Dallin H. Oaks was staying on our floor so we casually waited by the door in the lobby all night….he never came. Sooo he was probably already in his room because my cousin saw him in the morning. Haha we also saw the General Relief Society President & the guy who does Music & the Spoken Word. Didn’t realize we were at a church headquarters retreat, but there was just no other explanation for it. ?
Other highlights of the reunion included a red neck slip and slide that slid down a mountain, picking apples from grandpa’s apple trees together, ordering late night pizzas & exchanging stories, going to a church history pageant out in the middle of nowhere, a little Salt Lake impromptu shopping trip, a testimony meeting, Swig, making cookies, & the non-stop laughs. I love my sweet, crazy family!
Also, it’s National Sisters Day & I’m so glad I got to spend it with my sister. We laugh so hard together and I love her so much! So glad she’s my forever sissy & twin. ?
What do you guys do for family reunions? Any traditions? I would love to hear any ideas you have as we will be planning some in the future. Love y’all!
Can you believe it’s August?! Where has the time gone? I’ve already seen some clothing sites putting up fall clothes. It’s been weirdly cool and rainy for Texas these past couple of days.
There are good things ahead…starting with my sweet brother, who gets home from his mission THIS month. It’s been 2 long years, and we can’t wait to be with him again. It’s so funny when people are like, “Wow! The 2 years have flown by!!!” I want to say, “Ummmm… for you maybe!”
How I curl my hair like this:
I use a 1 inch barrel and take larger sections of hair and wrap it around. Then I flip my hair upside down and just comb the hair near my scalp. When I flip back up it looks a lot more natural. I finally take some Big Sexy Hairspray and go over it lightly to hold. Occasionally, I’ll backcomb the curls for even more volume before spraying.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend! We are at a family reunion loving life and having fun with relatives. ?
