I’ve never been so close to one. They were so cool to observe. Their knees bend the opposite way our knees bend and they bark like dogs almost! Haha but they are so beautiful with their pink feathers. We got to feed them, too! Go to Aruba, and you have to stay in the Renaissance because you have free access to the stunning private island with the flamingos. I didn’t inquire, but I read on a blog that if you don’t stay there, then they charge $100 or so per person to get to the island. I really am going to do another blog post on the hotel alone because it was the best.
But yes, Nick and I spent the afternoon laying on beach chairs, wading in the ocean, and following these beauties around to snap pics of them because HELLO! They are flamingos, and they are beautiful!
The only thing missing from my outfit was some straw and pom-poms. I love Kate Spade’s new pom-pom straw bags, but they are $300…so there’s that… but I found so amazingly similar alternatives below all under $50. I think I need them all…
Well, I hope you are ready for the weekend! I know I am. I have my first Texas Rangers game tomorrow, so I am a little nervous, but also excited.
On Sunday, we ventured out to find our church. It was a cute little yellow church building. It looked a little different from my church back in Texas, but it is literally the same church I go to every week. I mentioned this on my Instagram but I will say it here, too. One thing I love about my church is that it provides a great community! Everywhere I move or go, I automatically have friends & a support group.
I think I’ve realized the value of my church community these past few years of living on my own and being done with college. I have been asked by friends at work- how do you meet people? It’s through church! They’re not only there to be my friend, but they are there to support and encourage me & it gives me the opportunity to be there for them, too.
When my parents got divorced while I was in high school, and my mom was going to school full-time, working full-time, and taking care of us 4 kids, our church became our family. They brought us meals constantly, they came to comfort us, help around the house, and to just be with us. They rallied around us in our time of need, and I have such a special place in my heart for them. ? Also, being in Aruba was the exact same. I truly felt so much love from these people I had never met. I hope I can be as loving, inviting, Christ-like, and giving as the people of my church. What a blessing it’s been in my life.
Nick and I celebrated our first anniversary in Aruba. It was a dream.
We had so much fun! I can’t wait to share more photos of the hotel we stayed at because I would highly recommend it. Stay tuned for a future post. But the sand was so soft, and the water was so blue- like turquoise. It was warm, there were no waves, hammocks everywhere, palm trees, smoothie service, and a gentle breeze. Clearly we were in paradise.
It was amazing to be out on a private island and to relax. We can’t believe how fast one year of marriage has come and gone. It’s wonderful to be married to your best friend because you can help lift each other up during the hard times and the best times.
Many of you have complimented my swimsuit. I love shopping and finding cute, modest, and affordable fashion, so I created this little lookbook down below. Don’t be surprised if you see me rocking a few of these this summer. I especially want the one from H&M. Aren’t they adorable!?
